The
Carpenters toured the US and allover the world, from 1971 to 1976.
Pamphlets were produced to advertise the upcoming concerts, and
tour books were sold at the venues as collectible items. They provided
detailed descriptions of the performances, including the opening acts.
They also featured photos and information on Karen and Richard, and the
band. Often the proceeds from such books were donated to various
charities. The following is from the Q&A section of Carpenters Fan Club Newsletter #13 - May,
1972:-
- Q: Is Karen National Youth Chairman of Cancer Society &
what does she do for them?
- A: Yes. It is an honorary title bestowed on her because she and
Richard are both concerned with this horrible illness and have
donated all proceeds from sales of their program book to the Cancer Society.
